Buriël H.K. and Juliette Ramel to go to Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games

A lovely article was published on www.dehoefslag.nl today. It was about the Grand Prix horse Buriël H.K. (Osmium x Krack C out of Ronja KH). We bought this horse from the breeder as a foal and later sold him when he was three years old to Nadja Lommers. Great to see that this horse will represent Sweden at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Patrick Kittel and Tinne Vilhelmsson-Silfvén were already assured a place on the Swedish dressage team for Rio, but who was going to fill the other two places? That decision has now been made: team coach Bo Jena and trainer Kyra Kirklund have chosen two Olympic debutants: the Netherlands-based Juliette Ramel with Buriel, who is training with Nicole Werner, and Therese Nilshagen with Dante Weltino. Both horses have only recently started at Grand Prix level; Nilshagen made her debut in the Big Tour last year and Ramel started her Grand Prix career at the beginning of this year.

The news is still rather unreal for Ramel who finished her international Grand Prix debut on 73.46% and a first place. ‘He is a truly fantastic horse’ Ramel praised her talented Buriël. ‘He is intelligent and always wants to work. Just recently he has developed at breakneck speed.’ Nilshagen too has a talented horse in her stallion Dante Weltino. The 33-year-old German-based Nilshagen recently came second in the Grand Prix Special at the CHIO Rotterdam. In a reaction to

Tidningen she said: ‘We are taking it gently, I definitely don’t want to demand too much from him.’ Jena explains: ‘Kyra and I have followed them closely throughout the year. The combinations have become stronger. The last piece only fell into place in Rotterdam. Juliette and Therese have just what we need in the Olympic team.’
